If you missed Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, don’t worry. It’s not too late to find a great price on the perfect Christmas gift for the car enthusiast on your Christmas list. We at Paul Obaugh Ford have a whole host of ideas to help you make the car-lover in your life happier than a little kid on Christmas morning…
Car accessories are often a simple but popular gift idea. Bumper stickers from a college student’s school are a great gift – the perfect representation of surviving the first semester of higher education. Since this winter already promises to be colder than last year, a heated ice scraper is also a practical gift anyone would appreciate on a frozen morning. Steering wheel covers with fun colors and quirky patterns are a great way to dress up a car with a personality of its own.
Many of us spend lots of time on-the-go. Portable gadgets are memorable gifts that add convenience to longer journeys. A portable DVD player is a welcome gift for kids and parents alike, a car charger for the cell phone is an absolute necessity, and a GPS is hard to live without these days. And while tablets, smartphones, and all varying degrees of portable media are fun to toy around with, don’t forget the importance of maintaining full concentration on the road.
For the car guru who likes to tinker under the hood and take care of his or her own maintenance, restocking supplies like oil, air and oil filters, and even a spare tire is a good way to support the hobby. If you’re running low on funds, a handmade coupon for a free car wash or two could be a thoughtful gift; just be prepared to roll up your sleeves when the recipient cashes in on the coupon.
Hopefully these gift ideas have sparked your imagination and will help you shop for the car guru on your Christmas list. Leave us a comment and let us know what you’ll be giving that special someone. We promise to keep it a secret!
After defining the crossover utility segment with the introduction of the Ford Edge in 2006, the next-generation Ford Edge concept was debuted at the LA Auto Show. Let’s just say the utility vehicle has everyone talking, especially about its technology.
“The original Ford Edge offered customers in North America a fresh, compelling choice for an accommodating, efficient and safe medium utility vehicle,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford Motor Company’s executive vice president and president of The Americas. “The next-generation Edge – previewed in the Ford Edge Concept – will build on these cornerstones to create a global vehicle with technology to make life easier, and design and craftsmanship to appeal to customers around the globe.”
Ford hinted – okay, more like announced through a megaphone – that the concept shows off some of the next generation technologies that will be seen in the utility vehicle in years to come.
Fully Assisted Parking Aid is one of those technologies. It is a prototype that allows drivers to exit the vehicle and use a remote control to park the Edge from the outside. This would make parking particularly easy for those who park in cramped spaces as part of their daily commutes.
The next generation of Ford Edge, inspired in part by the LA Auto Show-debuting concept, will be available as a 2015 or 2016 model. Until then, we at Paul Obaugh Ford are forced to endure the suspense as Ford’s engineers continue to perfect the vehicle and release details along the way.
While we wait, let us know what other technologies you would like to see in the next-generation Ford Edge.
In less than three years, the Ford F-150 with EcoBoost has sold 400,000 units in the United States. If you haven’t bought one of those 400,000 units and are looking for a truck that won’t break the bank every time you fill the tank, you will definitely want to take a closer look at the F-150 EcoBoost.
Here at Paul Obaugh Ford, we know our customers want their trucks built tough as only Ford can. With the F-150 EcoBoost, we can deliver that same quality while offering unmatched fuel savings and promoting environmental friendliness.
F-150 EcoBoost owners save an estimated 45 million gallons of gasoline each year. That’s more fuel savings than the electrified, plug-in vehicles of Ford’s competitors whose trucks the F-150 EcoBoost can still out-tow by 1,000 pounds.
“Ford is delivering great fuel economy across our lineup, from EcoBoost in our F-150 and 15 other vehicles to our electrified vehicles,” said Ford’s truck group marketing manager, Doug Scott. “Fuel economy is the No. 1 unmet need for truck customers, which is why the F-150 EcoBoost’s leading combination of fuel economy and capability is resonating so well.”
Don’t waste your gas or your hard earned money. Drive straight to Paul Obaugh Ford today for your F-150 with EcoBoost.
Ford is synonymous with excellence. It’s the best-selling nameplate in the country, and Ford owners have countless reasons to rest easy, thanks to the promise of reliability and quality that comes with every vehicle that’s built “Ford Tough.”
Popular Mechanics recently announced their Auto Excellence Awards for 2014 models, and we’re pleased (but not surprised) to see the 2014 Ford Fiesta ST on the list. According to PM, “the Ford Fiesta ST follows a classic recipe for fun-to-drive: Take an existing small car, then add a hotter engine and a sportier suspension.”
The Fiesta is the best of compact car performance—big power in a small package. With a 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine delivering almost 200 horses, drivers with a need for speed won’t be disappointed.
The 2014 Ford Fiesta ST is sporty and chic, and it definitely won’t blend in with the other compact cars on the road. It’s a stand-out in every sense of the term and an absolute joy to drive.
Experience your own slice of excellence, and come check out our 2014 Ford Fiesta selection here at Paul Obaugh Ford!
Everyone knows the Ford Mustang is a fast and powerful car. But just how fast is it? According to an unofficial video that shows footage of the special Shelby GT500 Mustang on the track at Nurburgring, the answer is: almost record-breaking fast. An unofficial video tracks the 2014 Shelby at an impressive 7:39.28 lap time, taming the lauded track with relative ease.
The GT500 gets an incredible 662 horsepower out of its 5.8L V8 engine, which also allows it to churn out 631 lb-ft. of torque. It shoots from zero to sixty in a 3.5 second blitz, and can hit a top speed of up to 202 mph.
Motor Authority reports that, given the 2015 model-year reconfiguration that Mustang is slated to undergo, this may be the last year for the Shelby. However, give this supercar’s legacy, it’s hard to imagine that it will stay gone for too long.
For now, however, if you’d like to own your very own Shelby GT500, to know what it feels like to have all that power and capability purring under your foot on the pedal, come see us at Paul Obaugh Ford. We’ll set you up with your dream car, a Shelby Mustang.
With the holidays coming up, who wouldn’t benefit from having a little extra spending money? Furthermore, who wouldn’t jump at the opportunity to spend less money on gas each month?
If you enjoy filling up your gas tank and paying high gas prices, you are definitely out of the ordinary (and maybe a little crazy). If you’re like the rest of us, you relish the thought of spending less time and money on gasoline.
Improving your fuel economy doesn’t have to mean buying a newer, more fuel efficient car—although here at Paul Obaugh Ford, we have plenty of those in stock!
There are some simple things you can do to help maximize the fuel economy of your current vehicle.
- In terms of buying gas, do your best to plan ahead so you don’t have to fill up on weekends or close to holidays. Weekends and holidays mean higher gas prices. See where gas prices are lowest near you, but don’t drive far out of your way just to take advantage of saving a couple cents per gallon. Use common sense when filling up.
- Pay close attention to your vehicle’s maintenance needs. A well-maintained car, truck, or SUV will guzzle less gas than a vehicle in dire need of a tune-up.
- Observe your travel patterns. Are you spending a lot of time in traffic during your work commute? If so, try to alter your route or your departure times. Get to work a little early or leave a little later to avoid rush hour, if possible. Sitting in traffic is not only terribly “un-fun,” but it also wastes precious fuel.
Remember these simple hints, and start improving your fuel economy little-by-little!
They see us when we’re speeding, they know when we don’t brake, they know if we’ve been bad or good—so be good for goodness sake…
Sometimes it feels like police cars are everywhere—usually when we’re in a hurry. We all know the feeling of driving a little over the speed limit right past that cop car that we didn’t notice until it was too late. We immediately brake and drive onward, nervously, as we repeatedly check our rear-view mirrors, hoping the cop will be merciful and let us be on our way.
How often do we actually notice the brand of cop car on the side of the road? Chances are, we don’t notice very often or care, but automakers notice and care, big time. Ever since Ford ceased production of the Crown Vic, no particular automotive brand has obtained the dominant market share for the police car category.
However, a recent test carried out by the Michigan State Police could set Ford apart from the rest, yet again. According to USA Today, MI police pitted three cop cars against one another to find out which was the quickest—the Ford Taurus, Chevy Caprice, and Dodge Charger.
The Ford Taurus with EcoBoost engine outraced its V8-clad counterparts, reaching 60 miles per hour from a stopped stance in just over five seconds. Super speedy acceleration and impressive speed capability is bad news for baddies.
Will Ford’s supremely fast Taurus cop car put the automaker in a position to claim the dominant share of the police vehicle market?
When’s the last time you got an oil change? Chances are, regular oil changes aren’t at the top of your list of priorities—you’re busy with life’s everyday demands. Like many things, an oil change requires your valuable time and money. However, it’s more beneficial to think of regular oil changes as a way to save yourself additional time and money (and hassle) in the future.
Ignoring your check engine light or the reminder sticker on your windshield from your last oil change can have an extremely detrimental effect on your vehicle’s engine. Engines require proper lubrication and clean oil to get the job done. Neglecting regular oil changes results in wear and tear on your engine—and if you aren’t careful, your engine can fail completely.
Kelley Blue Book has made a short video, with the help of Quaker State expert John Hsu, that simplifies the reasoning behind the huge importance of regular oil changes. Check it out, below!
Take the time to make sure you’re getting your oil changes when you’re due for them. Let our expert service specialists help keep your engine healthy, and contact us at Paul Obaugh Ford about our service specials!
To us, there is no shortage of reasons to drive a pickup truck, but we understand that not everyone is completely sold on the idea. But, gone are the days when trucks felt like one-trick ponies. Although they’re still prized for their powerful and utilitarian nature and hauling capabilities, the interiors of pickups have seen dramatic upgrades in the past decade, making them much more comfortable (and daresay luxurious) to drive and ride in.
Modern pickup trucks sing a lot of the same tunes as fancy sedans, touting the same sorts of impressive options. Many have four real doors, quiet occupant compartments, smooth rides, and roomy interiors. You can get built-in GPS systems, high-tech infotainment centers, heated seats, luxurious materials, multiple-zone climate controls, and more.
Now we’re not downplaying the ability to haul and tow. We still think that is awesome, and it’s definitely what sets trucks apart. Truck beds allow us to load up our vehicle with just about anything without the hindrance of cabin height created by a cargo area with a top, like in SUVs. The truck bed fears no amount of mess or dirt since it can easily be hosed off and look like new again. Trucks make fifth-wheel trailer hitches possible, mounting right inside the truck bed adding stability and ease of maneuverability unmatched by other types of vehicles.
Truck exteriors are more aesthetically pleasing than ever to go along with all the beauty on the inside and under the hood. They handle well in bad weather and always rise to the challenges of difficult terrains. Trucks are safe. Trucks are powerful. Trucks are a lifestyle.
Ford’s tagline “Go Further” aptly represents the brand’s passion for progress and success. The Blue Oval recently ranked #42 on Interbrand’s list of the 100 best global brands for 2013. The list of worldwide consumer brands includes giants like Apple and Google, and thirteen other automakers.
According to Interbrand, Ford’s branding strength has been fortified by the fact that one in six new car shoppers in the US consider buying a Ford. The automaker has also ranked the second best brand in Europe for five straight years.
Pushing itself to always “Go Further,” Ford is determined to stay current in terms of market trends, particularly those associated with the ever-growing selection of high-tech features that are popping up on car option lists. A keen awareness of the necessity to grow alongside new technologies is part of Ford’s broader focus to engage younger generations of car buyers.
We have no doubt that Ford will continue to find itself among the world’s most successful brand names.
