The Ford F-150 is already the bestselling truck on the market with a decent sized gap between it and the runner up. That means the engineers needed something to do, and the result was revealed at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is a rough, tough, off-road-ready machine. This time around it boasts a new body, engine, and transmission.
The second generation Raptor will roll off the lines of the Dearborn Truck Plant and go on sale in fall 2016. There’s no word on how much the off-road monster will cost just yet.
The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor rocked the showroom at the 2016 North American International Auto Show, surprising many with the announcement of its production. There’s a few changes to take note of though.
First, the Ford F-150 Raptor will use the aluminum body that allows it to drop 500 pounds, making it more agile. Less weight means more power. The old 6.2-liter V8 engine that hit 411 hp and 434 lb-ft of torque is out, and a new, more powerful V6 engine is in. The truck will also use Ford’s new 10-speed transmission.
Did we mention the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor will have a top off-road speed of 100 mph?
We here at Paul Obaugh Ford can’t wait to hit the trails in the new Raptor!
