Each year Motor Trend puts out a list of the “Most Wanted American Cars.” This year that list is being dominated by the Detriot-based Ford Motor Co., claiming exactly half of the spots on the list. As its name suggests the Motor Trend list only takes into account American-branded vehicles, so Toyota and Hyundai are not considered here, but it does show that Ford is back to its true form.
The five vehicles that made the list are:
Fiesta: The top pick in the subcompact category, the Ford Fiesta is quickly becoming a major hit. A brand-new body style for the 2012 year and over 40 miles per gallon are what helped boost this tiny Blue Oval car to the top.
Focus: Like the Fiesta the 2012 Ford Focus received a major overhaul this year. The new Focus features a more sporty rounded bodystyle and also gets 40 miles per gallon, which put the car at the top of the Compact category.
Mustang: One of the original muscle cars, the Ford Mustang has been a best-seller for many, many years, and people are still flocking to the Ford’s flagship coupe. The Mustang has been earned top rating in the “Coupe under $25,000” and the Boss 302 was listed as the best “Coupe over $25,000.”
Edge: The 2012 Ford Edge is one of the best selling crossover vehicles in the country, which made it an easy choice for most wanted in the Crossover category.
Ford has been doing some pretty impressive stuff lately with its new technologies and deserves to lay claim to the most wanted American brand. For more information about the all the new Ford models visit Paul Obaugh Ford Online.
