Ford has been a leader in the automotive industry for decades by constantly innovating and offering a great value to customers. Now the American brand is working to further increase their vehicle’s value by retroactively updating the SYNC® 3 infotainment system to include more advanced software.
Ford has long promised to bring advanced smartphone integration software, namely Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, to the SYNC® 3 infotainment system. Best of all, the update applies to Ford 2016 models!
The smartphone mirroring technologies will arrive on the advanced infotainment system as long as it has been updated to version 2.2. Owners will have two ways to download the update to their 2016 Ford vehicle.
First, owners can use a USB drive and download the update, then bring it to the car. Alternatively, a certified dealership’s service department can download the update for you.
Second, owners can use the brand’s first-ever Wi-Fi update. Simply enable “Automatic System Updates” in the vehicle’s settings, then connect to a home Wi-Fi network. Once done, the car will download and install the update on its own. Best of all, the vehicle doesn’t even need to be running.
Considering the 2016 model year saw an industry record, Ford’s technology update doesn’t come a moment too soon!
We here at Paul Obaugh Ford are happy to see 2016 models receiving new technology updates!
