Each year US News gives cars a “Best Car for the Money” Award. These awards are given to the models that offer the most features and options for the lowest cost. It also takes into account how well the car functions and how all the new technology works. If it doesn’t consistently operate as advertised, is it really a good buy for your money?
This year’s award roster was a mixed bag of all different types of vehicles. There were 12 different brand winners, splint evenly between domestic and imports. This split shows that right now no one car manufacturer has a strong hold on the industry. 14 of the 22 winners are cars that have been introduced or significantly redesigned in the last three years, showing the long-term value in new models.
This year Ford was the biggest winner of all the brands, with 5 different models taking the award in 6 categories. The winners for Ford were the Ford Taurus (Affordable Large Car), Ford Fusion (Afordable Midsize Car), Ford Fiesta (Subcompact Car and Hatchback), Ford Edge (Affordable Midsize SUV with 2 Rows), and Ford Fusion Hybrid (Hybrid Car).
