There’s no better time than right before Independence Day to talk about the Cars.com American-Made Index of 2014! And at the top of the list is none other than the Ford F-150, taking the crown as the Top American Made vehicle.
In order to win this incredible title (or even to claim a spot on the list), the vehicle must be assembled here in the United States, have quite a large sales presence here, not be scheduled for any kind of discontinuance, and have at least 75% of its content made up of domestic parts. That’s something the Ford Motor Company strives for, especially when it comes to the F-150, which is assembled in Dearborn, Michigan and Claycomo, Missouri.
Ten cars were lucky enough to make the list this year, some from Toyota, Honda, Chevrolet, and Dodge. Based on the criteria, the number of cars that made the cut has dropped significantly over the past few years, including this year. Thirty cars made the cut in 2011, and only ten made the cut this year. Nonetheless, we’re proud of the F-150!
