Bullitt has become a cult classic among automotive enthusiasts, and Ford is looking to give fans what they want with the 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt, arriving as a limited-production model with even more power. The American automaker took hold of the car’s popularity by auctioning off the very first production model for a good cause.
A celebration of the Bullitt movie’s 50th anniversary, the first-ever production model, VIN No. 0001, went up for auction. The proceeds benefited Boys Republic, the very school that actor and Bullitt star Steve McQueen attended when he was young. With a final selling price of $300,000, it’s safe to say the first 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt will do more than buy a few books.
While there’s no word just yet on what the 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt will retail for, it isn’t likely to reach six figures. The model arrives with special Bullitt badging and a Highland Green paintjob.
The special edition model features a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine that produces 475 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. It comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission complete with a cue ball shift knob.
