Vehicle paint quality is one of the most important elements to customer satisfaction.
It is also one of the toughest variables to control in vehicle production.
That is why Ford is proud to introduce its industry-first 3D dirt detection technology.
The automated vision and digital imaging system utilizes high-resolution cameras to capture a total of 3,150 images of each vehicle in just 15 seconds.
A 3D image is then created and operators are cued of imperfections finer than a grain of salt so that they can be buffed out and polished.
Now, that is a serious upgrade from previous inspections and examinations performed solely with the human eye.
The technology is bound to ensure more optimal paint and surface quality on all Ford models.
After implementing the technology on the Ford C-Max, Expedition, F-Series and Super Duty and experiencing an 82 percent improvement in both paint quality and customer satisfaction for surface finish within just one year, it only makes sense to extend the technology to other assembly plants in the upcoming years.
So, be sure to keep an eye out for even fresher paint jobs on the Ford Edge, Escape, Explorer, Flex, Fusion, Mustang and Taurus!
You can find all of these Ford models at Paul Obaugh Ford in Staunton Virginia.
