Giving classic movie and car enthusiasts alike a cause for celebration, Ford has announced it will release a special 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt, a souped up muscle car that pays tribute to the now 50-year-old cult classic film, “Bullitt.”
Unlike some special editions, which are little more than standard vehicles with a fancy front badge, the 2019 Mustang Bullitt is a high-end, precision-tuned, performance beast. At the heart of this special edition Mustang is an upgraded version of the GT350 engine, featuring an open-air intake and an 87 mm throttle body. The Bullitt is also equipped with a unique power control module, enabling an incredible 480 horsepower, 420 lb-ft of torque and a top speed of 163 mph.
The overall styling of the 2019 Mustang Bullitt pays homage to the machine driven by Steve McQueen in the 1968 film, featuring a low profile with most of the exterior badges removed. Inside, nostalgic film buffs and muscle car aficionados will love the green contrast stitching on the seats, center console and door panels, as well as the awesome throw-back cue-ball shifter. Despite all of the vintage touches, though, it’s readily apparent at a glance that the 2019 Ford Mustang is anything but dated. The 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt will be available later this summer.
